Since, you ladies have achieved the dream I am hoping to. Do you have any suggestions for improving egg quality? I have a good FSH level, plenty of follies in my antral follie count. But both IVF ended up with only 2-3 ok quality embryo's.
I am trying to research ideas. Fish oil, bee pollen, royal jelly, etc. Or jump up and down 100 times before retrieval, haha. Thank you, Kristi
Re: How to improve egg quality?
I know people say this all the time, but be careful of something just because it's over the counter. Wheatgrass is a known thing to take for egg quality, but I am totally of the mindset it stalled & slowed my stimming. I won't take it again, myself.
A nice slower simmer to your stim (adding menopur helps, IMO) is what I think is best. but WTF do I know. lol.
GL ~!!!!
I took wheatgrass after hearing of some people who were successful before me did it and had good results from it. I am not sure if it helped the quality of my eggs or the overall change of protocol did it, but either way I got pregnant. I took it in pill form and followed the dosing instructions on the bottle, 7 a day I think it was.
Good luck!
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

IVF #1 was bad for us, the embryos just not good quality. I took 4 months in between cycles and took supplements that I believe improved our egg quality and led to our success with IVF #2. First, I did change my diet, which did result in a weight loss and I incorporated exercise, so I was healthier all around going into IVF 2. The supplements I took were Wheatgrass in a liquid form not pills, extra folic acid, DHEA, CoQ10, Omega 3 and L-Arginine. I did buy the bee pollen combo with royal jelly, but didn't stay on that past a week since it was so sugary to me and I was doing South Beach. I was on this fertility cocktail for 4 months prior to stimming for IVF #2. I also did acupuncture on the day of ET. Next time we do IVF I will follow the same cocktail and include acupuncture instead of just at ET.
GL!
After my IVF I was told I had terrible egg quality and out of the 44 they retrieved only 2 or 3 were decent. I had a normal FSH but an off LH. I was put on Metformin after my doctor saw the quality of my eggs, he said it would help to make them much healthier and better. I also did acupuncture which I 100% believe helped in every way to get me pg right before my 2nd IVF.
I am now on my 2nd pregnancy with no fertility help except for Metformin. Another miracle baby in my eyes...good luck! Ask about Metformin.
I would stay stimming protocol- when I was on Follistim and Menopur I had crappy embryos- when I was on Follistim and Luveris much better embryo quality. My RE says you never know what you are going to get, but he feels that different protocols work better for different people. I would stay away from any over the counter stuff- my RE always discouraged his patients from usuing it.
TTC #1: IUI #2 = BFP , Betas 550 (16 dpiui), 1523 (18 dpiui)

TTC #2: FSH 23, AMA, IUI 1, 2, 3 = BFN, IVF #1 = MC
IVF #2 = BFP - Betas 194 (14dp2dt), 366 (16 dp2dt), 841 (18 dp2dt)
(vanished twin ~7 weeks)
there are so many factors...
you can improve egg quality. As other said, one thing might help one person but not another person. I did acupuncture and I really think it helped me. I wouldn't do caffeine, diet drinks, any artificial sugar and just try to eat right. That said, a lot of ppl on here will tell you that they got pg and do all of that, but when you are older, you need to do all you can. KWIM? or if you are not older, but have high FSH or whatever.
sperm quality can affect embryos in my opinion too though. your DH should also try to eat healthily.
I never did wheatgrass, DHEA or whatever and I would be scared to do some stuff as they can mess with your levels. For example, my RE says acup. is fine, but tells ppl going through IVF not to do any herbs (even if the acupuncturist says 'oh it is fine, etc'.
good luck to you!
