if you're using Playtex Drop-Ins...

How does it work for you? My cousin gave me a set and being FF mom who uses plastic bottles, I'm don't know what to do with it, or when would be the perfect time to use it. I hope you can share your experience. TIA!

Re: if you're using Playtex Drop-Ins...

  • It works just like any bottle - no special use. put the bag in the bottle and put the formula in it. You squeeze the air out of the bag once the nipple is on and then feed baby. We've used it from the get-go and love it.

  • We use it on a regular basis but its becoming wasteful since the dropins are not reusable (cheap); so I'm thinking about switching to regular bottles.  However, I find it very convenient when you're on the go.  I think people like the dropins because you only have to wash the nipples but I was end up washing all parts.  So its not much of a time saver.

  • I love the Drop-Ins!

That is all I have ever used. They are so convenient and easy to use. Plus, no cleaning bottles. That's the best part.

  • I love them!  DS was very picky about which nipple he would take (since he's mostly BF, he will only take a latex wide nipple), and these were the only ones he liked.  I do like only having to wash the nipples.

Is your LO used to wideneck bottles?  If not, b/c of the wider nipples some babies will not want to switch.  DS1  refused wide neck bottles.

  • We tried three different types of bottles (the Medela ones that came with my pump, Ventair, and the drop-ins) and these were what DD liked and drank from the best.  She has less dribbles and less gas with them and I think the nipple on the nurser most resembles my breast.  She only gets bottles when I'm at work and she's with my MIL.  My MIL actually reuses the plastic drop-ins for two feeds and washes them inbetween, but if we give her a bottle I throw them out.  I love not having to wash more than the nipples and considering she watches 3 of my nephews, too, I know MIL is a fan.

This. LO usually only gets a bottle at daycare - however we have had to supplement with formula also at home sometimes. They are awesome. We stick them in the dishwasher every couple of days & use the same bottle throughout the day if we are home - just swapping out the nipple & liner. They are so easy on the go for pumped milk/formula also. HTH!

Can I reuse the liners at all?

  • You're not supposed to reuse the liners, I believe it says so on the box.  I never have, and granted, it does create a lot of waste, but it's so convenient I can't imagine using anything else.

ok, so i'm probably like the worst mom ever, but i reuse my liners. I buy generic liners at WalMart or the grocery store brand... like $5.99 for 100 vs. $9.99/100 and I reuse them if I feed her and wash it right out.I also don't use them more than twice. I make a batch of bottles each day and reuse some and not others.  The liners are "presterilized" but they are not individually wrapped, so how sterile are they really?  I've never had a problem, my kid digests fine and hasn't been sick yet. I love drop-ins and would gladly use them again.

I guess it's all about the quality of the plastic
