How long before bed do you do the pickup toy routine?  Everytime we've tried DD gets more into playing and it riles her up.  When I do it it's better but DH usually has to since the kids basically go to bed/do their routines at the same time and I obviously have to take care of (nurse) DS.

    It's the first part of the routine.  We "Clean up! Clean up!" then brush and floss teeth, then PJ's, then stories, then tuck-in.  It works super well for us, but we usually tag-team them into getting it done.
