Yeast and bleaching diapers

I hate yeast.

I also hate bleach.

But my hot wash comes out over 135 deg and I'm scared that wasn't enough to kill the yeast.  And I don't really want to reinfect her to find out if it does.

Rumparooz specifically say do not bleach.  I doubt my thirsties covers would like it either.  I've also got polar babies hemp doublers with fleece on top.

So how do I kill the yeast in those diapers?  I don't think I can really hurt my prefolds.  But PUL and fleece?

Re: Yeast and bleaching diapers

  • I hate bleach too!  But I hate yeast even more and have been dealing with and fighting it for MONTHS now.  He's been in sposies for over a month.  I decided bleach was the way to go after ready many comments on this board and several other websites.  Since he's in sposies I only bleached everything once (then did a second full wash+extra rinse) and am now waiting for the rash to be gone for more than a week tog back to CD.  Anyway, all the CD look fine!  Here's the site I followed for bleaching them: https://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com/YeastvsCloth.htm

  • Some people have luck using grape seed extract to kill the yeast instead of bleach.  I've not used it myself to know if it works, but it might be something worth looking into.
