AF/Endo Bowel Movements???

This might be asking for way TMI, but in the bathroom post earlier today someone was talking about their poo then take during AF because of there Endo.  Umm... can you elabrate?  I know... tmi....   I am just curious b/c I have noticed a routine with my bowel movements at the start of AF and because of the bowel movement I know AF is very soon to follow.  Is this a sign of endo?  I have my lap soon and I am curious.   TIA.

  • It can be if your colon is comprimised by endo.

  • I don't have endo on my colon (says 2 laps), BUT, I get a lot of IBS symptoms related to AF.  Diarrhea, and REALLY painful BMs.  If I can keep things "soft," I don't get the debilitating knife in the belly pain.  It was the IBS/Endo connection that made me realize I have endo.  I had a lot of adhesions on my left side near my colon (ligaments etc through there), so that may have caused the pain.

  • This is sort of terrifying. Is it normal to have more/grosser bowel movements during AF? I thought that happened to everyone? I was just diagnosed with IBS and it's definitely worse during AF.

It's not conclusive to diagnose endo or anything, but it is a common symptom of endo to have IBS symptoms related to your cycle.

  • This is interesting.  I was just diagnosed with endo at age 31.  For years I have had bowel problems that are particularly bad during AF.  I always associated it with my lack of gallbladder (removed 10 years ago) but didn't realize there might be a connection.

  • Thanks for the info ladies.  I have consipation during the last week before AF, and then a large soft bowel movement and then AF.  And constant bowel movements for the first few days and then I go back to my normal rountine until the end of the next cycle.  If that wasn't tmi this might be... I have started to have to lean backwards when having a b.m.  I wonder to myself if this is a sign of something.  Embarrassed

Only 23 more days until I find out if endo is my problem.

  • I have always had terrible BM's around the start of my period. Well, terrible BM's quite a bit of the time actually. I always attributed it to a 'funny' tummy or IBS. I had my lap in February where endo, was, in fact found. I have to say, since 'cleaning' me up, my BM's have improved greatly. I really can't believe the difference. For me, I definitely think there was a connection.

     This.

I have very painful bowel movements a day or two before and after starting my period.  Very bad cramps and nausea that comes in waves.  I do have advanced endo, and assume it's on my large intestines.  I've heard of some women who have bleeding with it too, although I've not experienced that.  If I take enough advil the pain is managable. I really don't know if it is normal to have changes in stool with AF, since I've never had a "normal" AF.Huh?
