WTH?! Wool soaker REAKS of ammonia!

So I just washed and lanolinized my Aristocrats wool soaker b/c I was going to try nighttime CD'ing again.  I put it on DD and after about 2 hours she woke up and REAKED of ammonia....the fitted and the soaker.  It burned my nostrils the smell was so strong.  WTH?  I just washed it and let it soak for about 10 minutes in the wash/lanolin mixture.    Any advice on the soaker?  I'm gonna soak the fitteds in some vinegar, but wasn't sure how to get the ammonia smell out of the wool.

I'd make the water slightly warmer (not hot or anything) and let it soak overnight (maybe with a squirt of dawn or baby shampoo and relanolize in the am). GL!
