We have beige microsuede couches in our living room. Looking back, I'd never get this color and I'm dying to get new furniture because it looks so terrible.
It was in great shape until we had kids. It started with our visiting nurse for T when he was on the bili-blanket- she changed him on the couch (despite the changing table next to her) and he peed on it. As he's grown he's had sippy cups and stuff on the couch that have leaked. And dh and I are not innocent either- we've had our fair share of dribbles and spills.
So I've been wanting to clean it forever now. I don't own a steam cleaner. I borrowed one from my sister once but never used it because I couldn't figure out how to. (My family doesn't live close by so they couldn't just stop in sometime to show me).
This morning, T's diaper leaked all over the couch- wet wet wet! and GROSS! My couch smells slightly of urine. I just sprayed some of the upholstery cleaner we have for dog messes on the spot but I need to do a good cleaning of the entire couch.
Sorry this is long. My question is- how do I clean this damn couch and get rid of any rings and spots on there? I should add- the fabric is not the zip off kind for the cushions. It's all attached.
Re: microsuede couch- how to clean?
ohh - do you think this might work for cat pee? we have a peeing cat and while there hasn't been a couch incident in a while, i can still smell it...

i just use a rag w/soap on mine, that's worked really well so far, but then we have a brown couch.... inlaws have a gray microsuede and they do the same thing i think....
i would just give that a try and see how well that works, and if you need deeper cleaning after that then you could either try a stronger soap (maybe carpet shampoo? w/a rag) or rent steam cleaner. but i would try a rag and soap first.
also, if your cushions are detachable, you can take the cover off and send it through the washing machine. i did that a couple times when our cat peed on the couch. but i had to do 2 washes, after one wash i'd turn the cover inside out and wash again, and i think i was only able to get one or two cushion covers per wash. it will take forever to dry, but also worth a shot! our back cushions aren't detachable though so again, had to scrub that w/a rag.
i've got a great remedy for cat pee.
1/4 cup baking soda
1 big bottle (liter i think? the tall one not the short one) of hydrogen peroxide
2 tbs dish soap
mix all together and you can either put it in a spray bottle or just pour directly on. just don't leave it capped if you put it in a bottle bc it will expand and bubble up. if you don't use it all you can keep it in the fridge to use later but it works best when used fresh. this SAVED our couch due to the peeing cat i mentioned above. it was so bad i literally was going to throw the couch out, not even natures miracle worked for us and this did.
also, i didn't even bother trying to rinse it off, i just let it absorb. but again we have a dark brown couch that was scotchguarded when new... and we haven't had any issues with it bleaching or affecting its appearance at all. also works great on carpet where the cats have peed.
try a grocery store. i know food lion rents them out, some walmarts do too, its usually a steamer called "rug doctor".
here you go, https://rent.rugdoctor.com/
Just called my grocery store- they rent them out for $23 a day. I'm going to go get one either tonight or tomorrow morning.
I hope it's easy to use! I'd like to go tonight so I can do it when dh is here to help with the kids, but he's traveling today so I'm sure he won't be up for it tonight. Although, he may sing a different tune if he smells the couch. YUCK
