We've used my babysteals Grobabys the last two days. I have only used them with the cloth insert so far.
I like the aplix. It's very sticky and I don't think it will fall apart like my BG aplix does.
I don't like: How the soaker bunches up between DD's legs. It's kind of bulky between the legs and unsightly. Also, today she pooped while wearing one for the first time, and even though it was not a soft or runny poop, it got on the cover (I blame the aforementioned bunching for this).
For some reason I feel like they might work better with disposable inserts. I have a box of Flip sposie inserts that I got free with a cottonbabies order, so I might try putting those in the Grobaby shells when I'm out and about.
I've only tried the disposable soakers (see my blog for pics & a sort of review - link in siggy) so I can't comment on the cloth.
I haven't tried the rebranded Gro Via ones, but will be this weekend. We're traveling to MIL's so I just had the box send directly there. But, in short, I like the Flip covers better but the Gro Via disposable soakers better.
I've been using them with the cloth inserts. It took quite a few washes (maybe 10?) for them to really start working. I like them. My kid is not a heavy wetter by any means though. He hasn't pooped in one yet which is odd. He poops a LOT. At least every other diaper has poop in it. It just hasn't happened yet. I think they're a little on the expensive side for how well they work but I got them cheap off of Baby Steals. I haven't had any leaks. Before I got to 10 washes the cover would get wet when LO peed. Since then it hasn't been a problem. I even left him in one for 4 hours (which is about 3 pees worth) while he took an impromptu nap.
I'm waiting for my local cloth diaper store to get the disposable inserts in so I haven't tried those.
Not my favorite. I never tried with disposible inserts and the cloth inserts aren't very soft or comfortable looking. Also, VERY low rise on my 24lb son. I actually haven't had him in them since about 22 lbs. I do think they restructured them somewhat and they might have made the rise higher. The ones I have are seriously low riders.

I really like them, I like GroVia much better than GroBaby. The soakers are better (bigger with gussets and waterproof backing to keep the covers from smelling like pee). The GroVia covers are larger in the rise than GroBaby and I really really like their disposable inserts. I like that they are gusseted like a disposable diaper, they hold in BF poo awesomely. Like PPs mentioned if they poop in the diaper with a cloth soaker in, the cover gets messy. But that generally happened to me with my Thirsties covers and PFs too...so its not really that big of a deal. I usually use the covers 2-4 times before washing. The boosters suck, don't waste your $ on those, they're too small to do anything useful. I dislike their super sticky velcro and am converting mine to snaps, but that is my personal preference, I just don't like velcro in general. I wish they offered all their colors and prints in snaps.

ahhh very helpful blog info! i would have never thought to mix brands with the disposable insert and cover but it looks like a flip cover + grovia disposable insert would work awesome.
I am fairly new to using them and have only used hybrid systems, so take this with a grain of salt.
I have both velcro and snap GroBaby shells, the organic cotton soaker and the disposable GroBaby soakers. I also have the FLIP shells and both the nicrofiber and organic cotten soaker/inserts. I have the new GROVIA soakers on order (should be here tomorrow) so I can't compare those.
So far, I like both systems equally well. I find the GroBaby slightly easier to use (particularly for when other's are changing my LO's diaper). It's quick and easy to snap and fluff rather than fold and/or arrange with the FLIP.
The GroBaby Soaker takes a long, long time to dry. I typically put mine in the dryer for one cycle and then they still take a full day of line drying to dry completely. The FLIP microfiber is faster than the FLIP organic, but both are faster than the GroBaby.
My LO has Peanut butter consistency poo and it ends up on theGro Baby liner 1/4 times on average. She actually hasn't gone in her FLIPs yet, so I can't compare.
My LO is pretty long and skinny, both fit her well. I haven't had leak issues with either and have gone 3-4 hours with both.
I have used a booster in the GroBaby when I knew my LO was going to poop, mostly to make clean-up easier (it worked). I don't think they do a whole lot for boosting absorption, but it 's nice to have most of the mess on the booster vs. soaker if that makes sense.
OK - and the Gro Baby (and Gro Via) systems are designed to be more low-rise than most. It's fine (I actually prefer it) for a girl, but could see how it might be an issue with a boy.
