lurker, but have a ? about cloth diapers

I'm new to posting, but have been lurking for a while. I used BG 3.0s for the first 6 months of my son's life, but then quit using them because I couldn't get the amonia smell out and also had repelling issues. I would do a cold prewash, hot wash using Allen's Detergent, then an extra cold rinse. I tried using bleach every so often as well.

Any advice on what I can do to get the smell out and also help with repelling?? Also, I use HE washer and dryer, if that even makes a difference!  I really want to use them again, but I need some help! Thanks!

I would try boiling the MF inserts.  That was the only thing that got rid of the stink for me.  I have found dawn can be a slippery slope, so I am very careful when I use it.  You might need to try it help with the repelling though.  I haven't had repelling, so I can't offer any personal tips there.
