So...I've been trying to figure out which crib mattress to buy for DD2 (still nameless), and have narrowed it down to the following criteria:
At least "eco-friendlier"
Less than $200 (preferably $150 or less)
Foam core - no springs
I've found the following two options
Sealy Soybean Foam Core https://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=16902659&
Pros: Waterproof cover, soybeans grown in USA, meets all criteria
Cons: Not sure if it has a "toddler side" (does this matter?)
Colgate Eco Classica 1 https://www.amazon.com/Colgate-Classica-Crib-Mattress-Beige/dp/B002EL4J14
Pros: We have a Colgate mattress for DD1 and it seems great (though it's just a regular mattress), I can get it for $151 on albeebaby.com right now, I like that it calls itself "eco-friendlier" and doesn't try to claim to be 100% good for the earth, has "baby side" and "toddler side" (I think)
Cons: I think I'd have to get a waterproof mattress cover because the outer is fabric (with a waterproof backing)
Thoughts? Does anyone have either? What did you think?
Re: Decisions, Decisions (crib mattresses)

So while this one doesn't fully meet your criteria, we got the foam one from Ikea. It's $40, fits our non-ikea crib perfectly and has a baby side and a toddler side. Also, the foam density fit in the range that baby bargains said to buy. I'm very pleased with it - while I originally wanted an "eco" one I decided that the $100+ difference could be spent in more important ways (for us/imo).
It does not have a waterproof cover nor does it claim to be eco-friendly foam. But we opened it up in advance to let it offgas before C arrived/came home, and honestly the plastic covered changing pad had way more noticeable smell than the mattress did even though it's less than half the size.
