I need all the help I can get. DD has had a bad diaper rash for almost 3 weeks now. I can tell you what we have done/changed recently and see if anyone can offer any suggestions.
We started her in BG Organics and mostly use those diapers with some BG 3.0s in there also. She had only 2 Organics before we bought a bunch more. (She was wearing Grovia and prefolds before that and we sold all the Grovias). I am not sure if the wetness from the diaper being close to her skin all the time caused it.
At the very same time we started using cloth wipes (because we hadnt been) and we had the Johnson & Johnson soap + water solution in a spray bottle on fleece wipes that had been washed along with the diapers.
That is when her rash began. When we started the new diapers and when we started the cloth wipes.
Since then we have done the following:
Changed the solution to Witch Hazel + Aveeno soap + water. Then to Witch Hazel + Water. Now we have eliminated the cloth wipes completely. That hasnt seemed to clear up her rash.
So we started using disposable diapers (I hate to admit that on this board
). We tried Aveeno diaper rash cream, Burt's Bees cream and a whole sample of Butt Paste. The rash just isn't going away! She has had it for almost 3 weeks and I don't know what else to try!!! The only reason we didn't use a diaper rash cream along with the CDs is because we werent sure if we had any that wouldn't stain the diapers. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!! TIA!!
Re: Diaper Rash HELP
What does the rash look like?
You can try stripping your diapers. If it were me, I would actually use some bleach in your wash on everyhing, including your wipes because after battling a three week on-again-off-again rash, turns out it was a yeast rash. Yeast lives in your diapers and keeps re-infecting LO. I tried every single "natural" remedy before giving up and using the bleach. Just be sure to do an extra rinse or two after using bleach. I put DD in disposables while her yeast rash completely healed up, and so she wouldn't put yeast back into her cloth dipes. Because I got so neurotic about it, I even used a Lysol wipe to clean out the drawer we keep her CDs in
Might not have done anything, but made me feel better at the time. Now I routinely put in a little bleach once a month.
For our wipes solution, every time I've used anything but plain water or CA Baby Super Sensitive wash w/ water, she's gotten red. I used to put tea tree oil in the wipes solution, but forget about it.
Good luck to you!!
