Graylynn?

Friends of ours are PG w/ a girl and this name is a top contender... along w/ Olivia and Emma (!)

I'm not sure I spelled it right above.. but it's similar to that. The more I think about it, the more I like it, even though it's NMS at all and I personally wouldn't. But I don't think it sounds horrible either.

Thoughts? Not that it really matters to me.. I'm just curious ;)

Another friend of mine suggested Gracelynn would be "prettier" but I can't just go suggest names since my friend didn't ask me to ;)

  • I don't like it.  I would really build up her other choices.  Olivia maybe?  rather than making a new suggestion

  • Is this a joke?  I ask because we've had alot of threads lately discussing how horrible Gracyn, Graceyn, etc. are.

I think it's absolutely horrid.  She probably should add a few more ys in there to make it girlier and even worse.

  • I actually do like it too! But maybe a different spelling. Too many "y's" for me!

Gracelyn just reminds me of Elvis! Ha!

Olivia and Emma are too popular!

  • Grayson is at least a name Ive heard of. But only for boys. I agree with there being too many 'y's. Maybe First name Gray MN Lynn and call her Gray Lynn like the old southern names like Mary Ellen.

I don't know what the trend is here all of a sudden with a "Gray" names, but the only similar name I like is Grace. Just Grace. I don't like any of the "Gray" names.

Gracelynn as your friend suggested reminds me of Graceland, so I don't particularly care fro that either (unless they are huge Elvis fans).

A coworker just had a granddaughter and they named her Grailyn (same as Graylynn).  They named her after the 2 great grandmothers, Grace and Linda.  It is very different but I think it is pretty.
  • Oh for Nevaeh's sake.

    Grace

    Gray Lynn

    Grace Lynn (sounds like Graceland)

    Grayson (boy)

    Vigdis (j/k)

Just my humble, but visually it's a mess - two ys, the word Gray which is mostly a boys suffix right now, with Grace being the preferred girl's suffix.

I mean, it's pretty much made up...Graelen, Graylin, Gremlin...see I can do it too. Stick out tongue

  • I don't like names that start with "gray."  Also there are too many 'y's next to each other.

  • i think it's awful. same goes for gracelyn, i hear that everywhere all of a sudden. i'm just not a fan of the made up -lyn name trend.

  • I've seen both Graelyn (spelled this way, rather than the aforementioned) and Grielyn (pronounced gree-LYN) for little girls recently. Can't say I like them, but Graelyn is certainly the lesser of the two evils.
  • That is really awful.

  • I know this is an old post, but I'm going to reply to it anyway.  My name is Graelynn.  When I was a kid, I hated it b/c no one could ever get it right & yes, I heard every single way it can be distorted to make fun of me.  But whatever, kids are going to do that no matter what your name is.

I grew into my name though & now I love it.  It's a combination of my parents' names, so although made up, it's got meaning.

So for all of you people who said, "ick," I get complimented on my name ALL the time.  My husband even wanted to name our kid that if we had a daughter.  (I vetoed that, but that's another story.)

The way you have it spelled does look awkward with two Y's... too many y's close together.

Side note: I hate when people read my name, clearly WITHOUT a "c" and call me Gracelynn.
