So I am attempting to make a fondant cake for Cora's birthday. I never took that class at Michaels but I am going to give it a try this weekend and see how it turns out. Have you used the fondant before?
No that was the next level-up class from the one I took. I have never used it. But the book that the class uses is the Wilton ones that you can get at Michaels. Maybe you could just grab that and see if there are tips?! I can't wait to hear/see how it turns out!
I have used fondant before and it's really easy to use (kind of like working with play doh). If you have any questions let me know...I might be able to help.
Also, if you are feeing adventurous you could try making your own marshmallow fondant (MMF). It's easy to make and tastes much better then the store bought stuff. However, if you are just using it for decorations (and you would like to use dark colors) then I would buy the store bought/colored fondant. It can be hard to get such dark colors on your own.
