Babies: 0 - 3 Months

are the sensitive formulas thinner than the regular formulas?

my dd was on enfamil premium lipil....i thought she was a bit too gassy so i switched to Enfamil gentilease but she still seemed gassy....then i went to similac sensitive and wow she is really gassy!  she also seems really hungry after 3 oz.  sometimes i think the sens. formulas might be thinner....what are your thoughts?  am i crazy?

  • I read somewhere that the Sensitive formulas are easier to digest, so they do tend to eat more. I noticed that too when I switched to sensitive.

  • After the night I had, I would agree 100%!!!

We are on Similac sensitive and OMG I feel like I cant keep my baby full!!

I was using the powder and today I am going to get ready to feed, I am wondering if the powder is making it even more diluted then the RTF.

  • I recommend the Silimac sensative RS. This had a little bit of rice in it and seems to fill them up a little more. We use to use the Silimlac Advanced and he seem to spit up or burp up it easily. The ped said he may have a little reflux and recommended the RS and he has done a lot better.

No one should be feeding their child rice cereal (in formula or not) at this age without speaking to their pedi first

The Pedi was the one that told us to switch to this and its made for birth to 12 months.

Yes, you talked to you pedi.  But, that doesn't mean you can recommend it for someone else

How long are you giving each formula a try?  You have to wait a while to notice a difference

  • my pedi said they are all pretty similar so i can switch if i dont think they are working.  my poor baby was screaming from gas the past 3 days while on sim. sens. and i cant keep feeding it to her knowing how bad her gas gis. i am hetting a bit overwlelmed b/c she gets this bad gas and i cant get it up.  so i switched this bottle back to enfamil lipil and hope that the gas subsides......i am so confused!

  • It could take up to a whole month for your LO to adjust to a formula according to 3 pedi's i spoke with about changing formulas. We went from Good Start Gentle to Similac Sensitive... he was still gassy for 2-3 weeks on the similac sensitive but if now finally adjusting and much happier/less gassy.

FWIW I dont think any formula is a "miracle" formula... some babies are just gassier than others.and they'll have their good and bad days :)
