my RE didn't say anything about monitoring

Hi everyone!

 

I finished my 12 day Provera last week, and I'm on day 2 right, told to start Clomid 50 mg day 5-9. Reading so much about monitoring while taking Clomid makes me more and more worried. My doc (a RE) told me to start taking it when the time comes, and good luck, and said he will tell me when to start taking the Provera when he has the test results from my bloodtest. He never mentioned to make an appointment. He told me that if I want I can come in to get a HSG done and gave me the information for my husband in case he wants to get checked. After reading more and more posts here, I feel that I start to get angry at the RE, specially since we had to pay a lot ourself when I went to see him, and it wasn't easy to get an appointment to begin with. What should I do? Should I just do what he said and take it and see what happens?

Okay, first of all you should have the SA and HSG done before you start the Clomid.

Secondly you need to make sure that your RE is going to do u/s and b/w starting about a week (around CD12) after you start the meds to see if you are responding to the Clomid. If he is not going to do this for you, find a new RE.

Hmmmm, I'd be looking for a new RE if I were you. Can you give him a call and see why he isn't monitoring you?

It sounds like you RE is being a bit negligent, IMO.  He's just leaving you to your own devices without knowing if/how you will respond, when to have TI, etc.  I personally would be looking for a new RE right away.  Or at the very least asking him why he's not monitoring me more closely.

I was pissed when my RE told me he was only going to monitor the first round. To go ahead with clomid without any monitoring at all? NO WAY. I will be demanding that my RE monitor ALL of my clomid cycles, and we aren't starting it until my DH's SA results come back (even though my RE said we could do it before that). From what I understand, there is only a certain number of clomid cycles that you can do in a lifetime before it can cause issues or become dangerous, so don't waste any cycles if you haven't had an HSG done, and if you don't know that there may be a male factor. I would not start Clomid without at LEAST the hsg, the SA, and the appropriate monitoring. Demand it!

WTF? Who puts you on Clomid without you already having an HSG or giving your husband an SA. Let's put it this way, if YH has MFI, you could take that clomid for nothing. This sucks dear, but I agree, you need a new RE. What a jerk!

I don't know where you are located at, or what type of insurance you  have... But I have been going to Reproductive Gynecology, Inc in Akron. It is located right in Summa Hospital there. I  have been seeing Dr. Nash, but the whole team there seems to be great. They have done everything in the correct order with testing, SA, B/w, etc and do monitoring on clomid. I would look them up, and see if your insurance covers any of their work. If you have any other questions please feel free to PM.

Agree agree agree. I'm a perfect candidate for clomid. My husbands (unexpected, we thought the problem was with me) SA means that we get to do IVF instead.

I am going to the same practice.  They are monitoring me, but I did have to ask for it.  If you don't mind me asking, which doctor are you seeing?  Feel free to send me a PM if you'd rather.
