Babies: 6 - 9 Months

is there such a thing as a 7 Month WHINEY period?

My LO can't crawl yet so  he gets frustrated at his lack of mobility - cries/fusses

He hates being changed, washed, put in the pack n play or left alone.

He used to have no problem with all of this a month or so ago and now all of a sudden it seems like all he does is whines and cries which breaks my heart.

I know his teething is really bad with no sign of teeth yet so that may be it but I wanted to know if 7 months + is considered a "TOUGH AGE"

God Bless our sweet baby James. Our son, born 11/22/09. Unplanned, Emergency C-section image

  • It is at my house.  I'm blaming the teeth.

  • Haha. I don't know, but my LO is going through it, too. He's showing signs of separation anxiety and not wanting to be set down. No signs of teeth yet, but that might be part of it, too.

  • 7 Months has been rough for us too...all of the sudden not sleeping through the night and she was getting so frustrated that she couldn't crawl yet, but now that she can crawl, she is frustrated because she wants to stand up ALL THE TIME! She is trying to pull up using anything she can get her hands on....the couch, my shirt, my hair....I think we might have an early walker our hands!

  • Aidan is working on teething his top two teeth. He's also army crawling but learning slowly how to regularly crawl so he gets impatient. And he's going through some seperation anxiety (the worlds ENDS if I set him down to go pee). I think it's a mixture of all of this. Oh, and like PP said, all he wants to do now is stand, which requires holding...

maybe it's just me but I just CAN'T sit and hold this kid all day when I get off of work! I work all day so while I love to love on him when I get home I also have to do laundry, and dishes, etc. so I hold him and play with him in between tasks I have to do. He still gets most of my attention of course, but not 100% all of it! Thank god Mike makes dinner, gives me time to sit and hold Aidan in a standing position so he stops screaming. Tongue Tied

  • Yes definitely.  Allie has skipped all the tough growing periods, didn't fuss with her first teeth, has sttn since she was 7 weeks old...and now is having a major issue.  Crying and being whiny and fussy, not sttn....I do think it's teeth, she's always rubbing her ears and face and she cries in her sleep. Sad

Same here, started two weeks ago.

  • us too! she is so frustrated she can't crawl, tired of the sitting on a blanket with toys, doesn't want her exsersauser or jumperoo and alllllllllllll day I hear this whinny sound. Everyone thinks it is so cute but after 10 hours it is just annoying.

She also will not allow ANYONE to hold her (not even DH) and if we are not at home and I walk out of the room (my parent's house and she is playing on the floor) she starts to cry.

  • it really could be several things, my son has three teeth (all on the bottom) and he is crawling, pulling himself up on things to stand up and is all over the place- he doesnt like to sit in the stroller when we are at stores and wants me to carry him or let him down so he can crawl around (which isnt going to happen) he has an increase in curiousity and wants to get into everything- so its problably the combination of teething, mobility, and adventure all wrapped into one
  • Im sooo glad you posted this because I thought it was just us!!  Very whiney at our house, too!

  • Tegan's not constantly whiney, but she's definitely less content than she ever was before. She definitely doesn't like it when I leave the room and she seems to be much happier sitting in my lap than playing on the floor. The only way she'll play on the floor or in her exersaucer for an extended period of time is if I sit with her and talk/play with her.

She's still STTN, but it's been harder to get her down for naps because she doesn't want me to leave the room. It's frustrating and I worry about when August comes around and I have to go back to teaching and she has to go back to daycare. I know it's going to be much harder for me and her, to leave her in August.
