I'm confused. My next RE appt is on 7/7.
I had a LAP in 12/09. My doctor told me after that my ovaries visually look poly cystic and that after lupron they would blood test. So 4.5 months later I got my cycle back, had blood work and just called about the blood test and they said negative PCOS but now I'm confused on what he saw and what it could mean.
I know I could just wait until next week but today it's on my mind. Goggling just brings up PCOS regardless of what I search. I'm so confused because if I still have poly cystic ovaries can I still have problems ovulating? Does it cause other issues? Will I need drugs. Blech.
Re: Poly cystic ovaries but not PCOS?
Hi,
My RE said I have a form of PCOS on my ovaries. All of my bloodwork and hormones do not show PCOS. I am a little confused myself and I plan on speaking more about it in July but that is what he mentioned last week that is part of my annov problem.
Yes, it can cause problems ovulating. I was told that Clomid does not work for me, but it does for some women. I have to move onto injectables.

Oh wow.....that is horrible news for both of us. I'm so sorry you are already going through it. Thank you for sharing, it does put my mind a bit more ease and what I can kind of expect at my appt, or at least have a couple new leading questions. I hate these appointments. I always feel like I need a follow up to the follow up because once I leave I have a billion more questions the next day.
My RE says I have "Polycystic Appearing Ovaries" or "PAO". My bloodwork is fine (no issues with insulin, no LH/FSH ratio issues etc) but I have many small follicles on CD3 and some ovulation issues.
I responded to clomid and injects but I have to be very careful about hyperstimulation, just like the PCOS girls.
it is rare to only have pco without any of the other symptoms. What b/w did you have done? If you have no other symptoms, then perhaps ovarian drilling or ovarian wedge ressection can help removes the cysts so you can respond to clomid or femara.
Full pcos panel includes cd3 LH:FSH ratio, fasting glucose and insulin test, glucose tolerance test, full lipid panel, free and total testosterone, prolactin, and 7dpo progesterone test.
What about unexplained weight gain, abnormal hair growth or adult acne?

The sheet for my blood work was marked up for PCOS. It was crazy. I had to fast and do all that jazz. At the blood work they took about 12 vials. I am chunky but I think it's all me...sadly. I have great skin, almost never an issue, no weird hair growth ever. No missed periods ever.
Thanks. I was actually able to google and come up with something! I feel so much better and more armed for my appointment. Thanks
This is exactly me, only I haven't started any drugs yet, so I don't know how I'll react to them.
