When did everyone start using hairchairs when you went out to restaurants? My LO just began sitting up independently he still topples over occasionally. Right now I've been putting him in the sling with the hip carry so I have a hand free to eat.
We started trying to put her in them at around 6.5 months, but she would get tired easily. Even though she can sit unassisted for very long periods of time, we generally feed her in one and then someone holds her to keep her entertained.

We're getting ready to graduate from the infant carrier, so I'm slowly learning to adjust to life with toting DS around everywhere! I just bought a shopping cart cover that also works as a highchair cover, and it has a really wide strap to hold DS steady. I'm hoping that works. He sits pretty well, but every once in a while starts to lean like he's going to topple over.
We tried around 6.5 months..but he wouldnt have it But now he sits fine in it..He just started to sit good unassisted but i just put a receiving blanket around him
We have a high chair / shopping cart cover and buckle him in and he sits fine. If the chair is unusually large, we'll stuff him on one side with a blanket to help keep him propped up. His toys hook to his high chair cover and he loves it.

just last week was the first time. He did really well, except it was one of those wooden chairs and he threw his head back and bonked it. he wasn't very happy about that, so next time I think we'll bring a small cushion to put behind him. otherwise he loved it, he had a blast sitting at the table playing with sophie
We've just started doing this recently with a cover. The second time DD did really well and she got to watch the "show" at Ginza (a Japanese hibachi restaurant here). She loved watching the fire, etc and playing with Sophie. I just use our wet bag and roll it around the dry wipes and use it as a cushion to hold her up better since she's so little.
at 5 months she could sit up if we stuffed a sweatshirt to fill in the gaps and by 5.5 months she got the hang of sitting up unassisted. She still prefers to be held in our laps, though. Now she is great at sitting up in a grocery cart or highchair, but because she isn't eating with us, I think she gets jealous of our tasty food.
