Never used the diaper genie, anyone else?

I got a diaper genie before DD was born but have NEVER used it.  I always think it's more convenient to just pitch the diapers instead of messing with the genie.  I don't know why I'm hesitating giving it away.  Have you used yours?

I have the Diaper Genie II Elite and love it. My mom has the original and we both hate it - it's not as efficient and user-friendly as the DGII.

We have a hand-me-down and I never put all of the parts together - we just use it like a garbage can.

DH bought me one, and it seemed like a good idea...but no, HARDLY ever used it.

We have the Elite II and my husband kept griping about how we were wasting money on those cartridges, so one day he can home with a mini garbage can.  You can definitely get a pretty rank smell after a day or two but that just means you need to take a stroll to the dumpster.  We plan to go back to the Diaper Genie soon since we have about 10 cartridges stock-piled in her closet and frankly, I can't stand it when I go in her nursery and it smells like a public restroom.

I love my diaper genie but I only use it for the poopy diapers. Otherwise it gets waaaay to full and you have to buy those dumb bags for it.

We used it for a couple of weeks.  I could still smell the dirty diapers, so it was a no go for me.  I swear I have the nose of a bloodhound, ha!

We currently live in a ranch and the nursery is just steps away from the garage, so I just take the dirty diapers out there.  We are moving to a two-story soon, so I will need to come up with another solution.

I've never used one and I don't see the necessity. I have a small trash can that I use scented bags in. I buy diaper disposal bags at the dollar store (80 in a box for a dollar) and I put poopy diapers in those and put them in the small bin. Then I empty it daily into the outside trash can.

We actually have two of them. One on each floor. Which I use daily. We empty once a week with trash day and I spray with Lysol before closing. For me it is a MUST have.
