Babies: 6 - 9 Months

When did you start putting LO in shopping cart seats?

We have a shopping cart cover that we have been eager to try out and I think DS would be happier sitting in the shopping cart than in his car seat. DS has been solidly sitting on his own for the past couple weeks and DH asked me when we could break out the cart cover.
When did you start putting your LO in the shopping cart seats? Should I wait a while since he just started sitting independently?

  • I did it once already and my kid loveeeed it. It has a buckle so it keeps him in place and of course I never left him unattended.

  • I put DS in the cart right around six months.  He had been sitting independently for a couple of weeks beforehand.  He is WAY happier sitting in the cart!

  • We had to switch from the infant carrier to a regular car seat 2 weeks ago.  Therefore we had to break our cart cover and start using it.  So LO was about 5 1/2 months old.

  • We started about 2 weeks ago. However, DS has been sitting independently for a while and can sit unassisted for a while.

  • I started putting DD in the shopping cart when I knew she could sit up unassisted for a period of time. She loves to be in the shopping cart.

I don't know, it was maybe a month and a half ago or so? She loves it! I have a shopping cart cover to kind of cushion/pad her and that seems to help.

  • We just used it for the first time this weekend. DD is not quite an unassisted sitter, but all the padding and the seat belt in the shopping cart cover kept her sitting up. She absolutely loved it.

  • We waited until she could sit unassisted for quite a while. She absolutely loves it! So she's been in the shopping cart seat for about a month now.

This.  And I take a blanket to pad him some more in case he decides to lean to the side.
