Hi!
My boys have never been huge formula drinkers but lately it's been getting worse!. They love solids, but formula is a whole other story (this even before we started solids).
Any idea what the recommendation for total oz of formula for an 8.5 baby?. Is this just a phase?
Right now they get 4 bottles a day and two meals + one snack. Total formula is probably ~20oz (if I'm lucky!). I always give them the solids AFTER their bottle...and haven't added a full third meal because I feel like if I do then they will drink even less at their bedtime bottle...
Thanks in advance
Re: Refusing bottles and how many oz (8.5 m)?
This is my LO, he will refuse the formula but gulp down the water. The pedi said to check for hydration (wet diapers) and she monitors the weight. We ended up making the formula more caloric when LO was drinking less than 15 oz a day, right now he drink about 13-15 oz a day.
Note that LO has delayed gastric emptying and severe reflux so his intake/weight is closely monitored to ensure the medication is correct.
Thank you everyone.
I just called the pedi...She suggested going down to 3 bottles a day...and doing a sippy cup with melas with milk in it...
he also said 18-20oz was plenty!
H drinks about 28oz between 5 bottles. Sometimes if he won't eat, but I know he is hungry I will let him watch his video while I feed him. Maybe you could try that.
I know the recommendation for 9 months olds is between 16-24oz so I don't think 20oz is a big issue.
