I am having my gall bladder removed tomorrow. I know the surgery is no big deal, but I am still getting nervous. Then there is recovery with 2 kids and trying to keep BFing.
I don't blame you! I hate surgery and having a new baby makes it sooo much harder. I do know from friends that had it gallbladder surgery has a good recovery time and remember how much better you will feel!
I did the whole BFing and surgery thing Here are some quick hints.
1) Plan on pumping and dumping the first couple of days... that way you can be drugged as much your heart desires and pumping won't be HORRENDOUS pain.
2) Go through your surgery prep and let them know to time it so you can have 15 mins before surgery to pump. You want to be as empty as possible going in so you have as much time as possible to rest in recovery before pumping.
3) Vicodin and Percocet are both safe to take while BFing. I was prescribed both after my 2 c-secs and my hip replacement.

Thanks for the tips. We are actually bringing the baby to the surgery center so I can nurse right before I go in. They are fine with it. Then DH will take him to the sitter while I am in. I am sure i will have to pump right after though.
