Need suggestions to get things "moving"

Poor Georgia can't seem to poo since starting solids.

I have already stopped cereal completely.

However, even fruits & veggies bind her up!!!

Prunes don't work, pears don't work, water doesn't seem to help.

What else can I try?

  • Prune juice

  • Put the rectal thermometor in her bum. You may have to move it around a little. My DD gets constipated too and this trick always works. Good luck!  I hope that helps!

how much/how often have you given her the water or prunes or pears? Does she have an excercaucer or jumperoo of some sort? most say that the jumping/playing makes their little one poo.

  • Apple juice diluted 1 to 1 with water.  It's the only time I give juice, but it helps the best.  I haven't tried prune juice, but hear that is good too.
  • I gave Max 2 oz (diluted with 1 oz. of water) of prune juice one morning because Bananas made him super consitpated. ?He was a poop machine that afternoon. ?It works wonders and he loved the flavor. ?
  • Pear juice worked for bryson...or warm prune juice :-)

Good luck.  Also, try stimulating her with the rectal thermometer if neither of the above works.

  • Lie her on the floor on her back take her knees and bend them up to her belly (together) a few times than while holding her knees twist her at the hips like you are rolling her lower half while keeping her back on the ground. You want to "dis-associate" her top half from her bottom half; it helps to move things through the digestive system.  Picture the movement as if you were standing and twisted your upper body---same idea. As a last resort-a suppository works--but call pediatrician first.GL.
  • I second using the rectal thermometer....does the trick every time.  I use Vaseline and I swear if DS even sees the thermometer he begins to poop.
