starting daycare tomorrow and have some questions

They said I need to label DD's bottles with her name. What did you do? Should I just write her name with a sharpie?

DD gets oatmeal arount 8:30am. I mix it with breastmilk. Do I mix it at home and refrigerate it when we get to the daycare? Or do I have them mix it there?

Any other advise would also be appreciated.

We have inch bug labels for DD's bottles, www.inchbug.com. Of course it's too late for you too order them for tomorrow, but you can have them in a week or so. Until then, you can use tape to label them. Also, you will probably need to mix the oatmeal and milk before you leave home. My daycare does not mix anything (food, formula, etc) and everything needs to come prepared. I use the take and toss bowls with lids and send her food in them. Just remember that it is harder on you than it is on them. DD loves her teachers and she enjoys playing with the other babies. Good luck tomorrow!

Masking tape & marker works just fine.  Try to label everything, it helps a lot.

I would ask them if they are able to mix the cereal for you.  I can't think why they wouldn't.

I used to work in the infant room at a daycare centre, and we never had any issues with preparing formula or making cereal etc....

 Also, try writing down all the things that you know you baby likes / dislikes, like in terms of soothing & comforting, sleeping, food temperatures / consistency etc.  That also helps the providers know a bit more about your baby, and they can try to duplicate what the baby is used to (as much as possible).

A special blanket or sleep toy is also good.

Our daycare writes DS's name on everything of his on tape of a certain color (every child has a different color).  You could ask if they do this or just write the name on tape.

I gave our daycare a box of oatmeal and a box of rice cereal for DS.  I take his 2 bottles of BM each day and whatever veggie/fruit he will eat that day and then an extra bottle with an oz in it (a small Medela bottle) that they use to mix his cereal.  We dont even provide bowls, etc.  

I wrote out his feeding schedule and asked that they stick to it (and they do).  If you are concerned I would write out what to feed LO and when.  GL!

The labels are expensive, but nice.  I didn't want to pay or wait for them to come in the mail, so I made my own.  I printed out in tiny font on my computer, cute out a rectangle with her name and a little picture of a ladybug.  Then I just used regular tape to tape it to the bottles.

I made a ton of the name labels because I figured they would come off pretty easily, but they didn't.  In fact, DD's been out of daycare for about a month and I still have them on...even running through the washer they have not come off since I originally taped them on! 

Also, just like PP's said, if you take a bottle with the amount of BM you need to mix with the oatmeal, they should have no problem taking care of that for you!
