It's a PITA to change DDs sheets with the bumper on so I took it off today....I don't know if that's good or bad! LoL I'm curious about the answer to this clicky.

This is true....but ds1 always always always wormed his way up to the corner of the crib (with the top of his head smashed against the bumper). I can't imagine that would have been very comfortable w/o the bumper there.
Heck, we kept the bumper tied around the rails when we switched the crib to the daybed position even...lol. We will probably do the same with ds2.
DS is smooshing his head against the rails right now. I probably will keep them on until he switches to his toddler bed unless it helps him with his crib escapes. He isn't even close to trying to climb over the rails though.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

Not "still", but rather "again". Had them on before she was here. Took them off. Put them back on at 6 months when she began moving around so she wouldnt hurt herself.
I have a beautiful bumper that I love, but we never used it. It didn't seem necessary at first (and I read about the airflow and suffocation concerns). Now that DS is moving around in his crib, he actually likes to hold the rails while he sleeps. So a bumper would just get in the way.
I'm using the breathable. He was trying to climb out with the regular one in there so I tried taking it out. That just resulted in him getting his limbs stuck in between the slats. So now we're onto the breathable. :-)

This. I took them out around 4 months, but had to put them on again around 6 months when DD had her leg sticking through the side of the crib 3 days in a row. It freaked me out (she has super-chubby legs and I thought she might catch her leg and twist it or something). So I put them back on.
I'm watching her on the monitor right now rearing up and pounding her face into the bumper, so I'm glad I put them back up.
We only started around 5 months or so. She started rolling/moving around so much. Three days in a row I found her legs sticking out at various points in the night or day, so I caved and put in the bumper.
Bought a mesh one today, and will change to it tomorrow after it's washed.

We've been using them since day 1 in the crib, but now that DS is rolling over in his crib, I think I might switch to the breathable ones. He often leans his head up against them like a pillow, and it kinda worries me that he will just turn his head one night.
