how to get calcium into a baby w/ a dairy/soy issue?

I keep reading about people giving yogurt and cheese.  We are no where near being able to do that - I BF and avoid even hidden dairy like the plague.  How do I get calcium w/out yogurt for my LO?

We just started purees this past week, so this is a question for the future, I'm just curious.

  • Citracal or equivalent for you and vitamin D drops (in a bottle of water maybe) for LO. I think its vitamin d? Ask your pedi before doing anything though.

  • According to https://pediatrics.about.com/od/calcium/a/06_calcium_food.htm... you could try these foods.  DD loves feeding herself broccoli.

These nondairy foods can be good choices for kids with milk allergies who need calcium:
    • Salmon
    • Tofu
    • Rhubarb
    • Sardines
    • Collard greens
    • Spinach
    • Turnip greens
    • Okra
    • White beans
    • Baked beans
    • Broccoli
    • Peas
    • Brussel sprouts
    • Sesame seeds
    • Bok choy
    • Almonds

  • Hemp milk is a good source, although I don't know if it's fortified or just naturally that way.  The chocolate hemp milk is delicious!
