Okay, the boys are starting baby food, and I'm looking at where the best place (and price) is to buy the food. I'm seriously considering making my own but don't really know how or what to do with that so I'd really have to do some research on it. In the meantime, can you ladies help?
1) Where do you buy your baby food?
2) Have you found places that sell baby food in bulk?
3) If you make your own, how often do you have to make food? Do you have links to recipes/instructions?
Thanks! Any experience here is very appreciated!
Re: where do you buy baby food?
If you're looking to save money, you could hold off on giving baby food until 6m; it's just for practice until 12m anyway so that would save you from buying 2 months' worth.
We got ours at Walmart or Food Lion. I got coupons from Beechnut and Gerber; that helped.
Also, www.wholesomebabyfood.com is a great resource if you are considering making your own or even just want general guidelines for introducing solids, recipes, etc.
its sooooooo easy to make your own. do you have a steamer? if not, you can get one at walmart for $10. a food processor? if not, get a small cheap one (although i love my food processor so a nicer one is worth the investment). simply steam your food, and puree. Then freeze in ice cube trays.
i made my own for my son and it was really so easy. Plus, I feed him organic fruits and veggies so it really saved. I would buy mostly frozen, steam w/my microwave steamer, puree and freeze in ice cube trays. I believe each cube is 2 oz. so ir made it easy to measure too. If it was too thick I would dilute a bit w/ water or formula. The only stuff i bought was the baby cereal and my son really liked the Gerber's yogurt (the powdered stuff in the box that you have to mix yourself).
