Two questions...
1) My LC told me to use APNO after every nursing session and to wipe it off with a wet cotton ball before the next session. Everything I've seen online says that it's not necessary to remove the APNO before nursing, since washing the nipples can dry them out and it also removes natural oils and antibacterial properties that are necessary for LO.
2) I've used lanolin a few times after nursing instead of APNO (though neither one gives me much relief)... I know it's not necessary to remove lanolin before nursing, but whenever it's on the nipples, DD makes a face when she latches on, almost like it tastes bad. Has that ever happened to anyone else?
Re: APNO and Lanolin questions
Don't wipe off. Not sure about the APNO but the lanolin dissolves away for the most part by the next session.
lanolin doesn't have a taste. test for yourself and see!
keep using the lanolin and you'll see things improve over time.
