Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How old was LO when you ...

left him or her for the first time? Who did they stay with?

I lurk over here sometimes to see what is ahead of us in a few months. DH really wants to go for a motorcycle ride tomorrow, but I still don't want to leave LO. She would stay with family if we were to go, but I just think she is too little. I am also one of the lucky ones who will not go back to work until she is 3 months old.

  • She was about 6 weeks old. But it was only for about 2 hours and it was with my MIL whom I trust and adore. Do what is comfortable for you.

  • I just posted about this. Tonight is the first time we are leaving DS for more than 2 hrs with my parents. I've left him for an hour or 2 with my mom to run errands, but that's it.

If we were to go tomorrow, my MIL would be the one to watch her too. DD is their first grandchild so she is quite spoiled already. :)

I have only left DD for a hour once and she was with DH so I don't really count that as leaving her.

  • She had her first sleepover at my IL's at 1.5 months old. We left her with my mother in law for 5 or 6 hours when she was about 3 weeks old. With 2 kids..I needed the break:)

  • He was 3 weeks old- we went to a friend's birthday/housewarming party and were gone about 2 hours.  A former student of mine babysat (she's now 22 and just got her EMT certification so we figured he was safe!).

LO was 6 weeks. we went out to dinner for our anniversary and she stayed with my sister. We were probably gone for about 3 hours max.

Since then it has changed, bc I work and she is in day care. That didn't start until she was 3 months though.

  • We left her with my sister-in-law for a few hours at 3 weeks old.  She went to daycare at 12 weeks and we try to at least do one date night a month.
  • I left my DS with his daddy when he was one week old while i went and got a pedicure lol. I needed a break so bad. I was only gone for an hour though. At 2 months old, my DS started spending every Thursday night over at my mom's house (she lives just a few blocks down the road), so me and my bf could go on a date night and get some sleep!

In this past month, I left DS alone with his daddy for 7 full days while I went on a road trip with my mother. I was miserable and missed him so much, but it was totally worth it in the end!

  • I have been putting her in daycare since she was 6 wks.  I think the longest she was there for was 6 hours.
  • DS stayed with my mom overnight at 7 weeks.  We had an out-of-state wedding to go to and taking him would have been a disaster (even though the bride was nice enough to give us the option to bring him).

  • DD was 4.5 months when we first left her. ?I know a lot of people leave their LO's much sooner than this though. ?Only you know if you're ready, if you are unsure then maybe wait a while longer. ?Could you maybe just go for 30-45 mins or so to kind of get you used to the idea and make it more gradual?

  • 3 weeks old. We had a wedding to go to. But she was with people we really trust, obviously, and we were 10 minutes away.

We still have not left her overnight and do not have any plans to do so in the near future.

  • I didn't leave DD for more than 2-3 hours until just this month when DH and I were both in a wedding and had to be gone all day. I did start leaving her with family members while I ran errands when she was around 6 weeks. I will not feel comfortable leaving her overnight for quite awhile.
