I have plans for months now to attend a reception in honor of a friends wedding (they got married at the beach, just the 2 of them).  I have a fabulous dress to wear, made a goal to lose at least 10lbs. before the party, which i achieved, and was just dang excited to go socialize with adults again.  well, today my child has decided he needs to be attached to me all day or he will throw a screaming fit!  i can't even set him down long enough to get his diaper bag ready to go over to SIL's house, nevermind actually getting myself ready!  he won't nap unless he is laying on me, won't play with any toys by himself for more than 5 minutes.  The party starts in 2 hours and I haven't even showered!

I know he has no idea that mommy made plans to go out, but it's just so frustrating!  I guess a night out just isn't in the cards tonight

Aw that sucks! It's like they can sense these things. How long is the party? Could you show up later?

Happens to me all the time!  I would still try going out.  If he has a meltdown at your SIL's.  Maybe you can just come home early.  I always end up coming home early.  But I'm happy to get out for even a couple of hours.
