Bananas... TOTAL fail!

I decided to mash up some very ripe banana to give DS this morning with his oatmeal.  I figured why bother paying for it in a jar if it's just as easy to do at home?  Yeah... every time I spooned it in his mouth he gagged.  There were some little chunks left in it, but it was mostly smashed.  I think bananas are a no-go for a little.  Maybe we'll ty again when he's gumming foods more.

  • DS did the same thing the first time I gave him mashed up bananas. But the next time, I thinned them out with a little breast milk, and he gobbled them up. He'd still make a weird face every time he got a tiny chunk, but it didn't seem to bother him as much!

  • I agree with pp! Try mixing it will a little BM or formula and maybe he'll like it better. We're trying it today, so hopefully it works for us!

  • DD absolutely hated bananas I mushed up AND bananas I bought in a jar.  She is eating some finger foods now and I made her baked oatmeal a few days ago and the recipe calls for sliced banana on top.  She wasn''t overly impressed with the oatmeal but loved the baked bananas cut up!  Maybe she takes after me..fresh bananas make my stomach hurt but I can eat them when they're baked in something.
