IVF consult

I had my IVF consult today and I thought it went well. My RE said he wants me to concentrate on being positive that this cycle will work. He really believes in the mind, body, soul connection and self-fulfilling prophecies. He was thrilled to hear that I have been doing acu and is encouraging me to keep at it. If for nothing else but just a stress reliever.

He wants me to start prometrium Sunday night just once a day vag for LPD. If I start to spot increase to twice a day. Can't say I am excited about that.  My Beta will be 77 (lucky number 7?). If neg I start BCP on CD 2 for an Aug IVF cycle. I wont be going on lupron. Instead I will use Synarel nasal spray for ovulation suppression. He estimates that I would begin stims around 8/5.

He does not require bedrest after ET. I know that has been discussed lately on the board. I think I will still do at least a day of modified bedrest. He said that there isnt great proof that bed rest beyond 30 mins after the ET improves you chances of implantation. He said that there is evidence that not staying perfectly still for at least 10 mins does decrease success rates. So he wants 15 mins after ET no laughing, giggling, coughing, sneezing, leg or hip movements. Then another 30 mins of quietly laying there.

He did say that I am to avoid all high stress situations after the ET and would be very liberal with taking me out of work. He oversees all of the OB/GYN Residents at my hospital I work at. He told me that he'd most likely have a 3rd yr resident with him when he did all of my IVF appts. He asked if there were any residents I prefer didnt see me or if there was one I prefer to have. I really appreciated that.

I also really liked that the RN will take care of all the medication ordering and dealing with the insurance. Since they are hospital employees they are familiar with the insurance. They also said they prefer for my meds to be delivered to the office instead of my house. That also is fine by me. I dont have to worry about being home to sign for a package or having thousands of dollars worth of medication sitting on my front porch. 

Its kind of nice to know that sex from now on is purely recreational.

Good luck, and hopefully the consult was for nothing!  But, if you should need IVF, it sounds like you have a great plan in place!

my RE told me i could get up and pee right after transfer...ive always wondered if thats why it failed, or contributed, I might demand that i lay flat like your doc suggested!?

I hope you're successful this cycle and don't even have to move on to IVF. But it's nice to have a plan... especially when you feel really comfortable with your RE.
