My ds will be 7 months old in less than a week. We started solids at 6 months and most days he only eats solids once a day (2 oz). When did you go to two meals a day? How will I know when he needs two meals?
My daughter isn't 7 months old, but we started solids at 4.5 months and did 2 oz of puree or rice cereal at night for a month, then at 5.5 months we added a breakfast of 2 oz fruit mixed with 1 tblsp oatmeal and now at 6.5 months she gets, 4 oz fruit mixed w/oatmeal (breakfast), 2 oz veggie (lunch) and 4 oz stage 2 meal (dinner).
My DD gets about a tablespoon of food, then a bit of rice added to it, and some water once a day at night. We started a bit later than most and we're taking it really slow. We're not in any rush. She gets what she needs from formula throughout the day and we're ok with that.
I don't feed purees. We do BLW or Baby Led Weaning. My LO decides how much she wants to eat. I don't use a set schedule to how much food she is gettting because for the first year of life it is more important for our LO's to be getting their nutrients from breast-milk or formula.
The first foods are to help our LO's learn to move food from the front of the mouth to the back.
We also started solids at 6 months. We do 1/2-whole container of Gerber purees after his first nap along with rice cereal and a bottle. At dinner we do oatmeal with another 1/2-whole container of purees with a bottle. We have finally finished all the veggies and will start doing a fruit in the am and a veggie for dinner. Our pedi. recommended at his 6 month app. that we start doing 2 meals so he gets the idea that we eat at certain times. He also suggested having 3 meals by 9 months.
Good luck! It all seems confusing at times, doesn't it!?
