DD never had a severe case, but she was on Zantac 2X (2mL) a day. Since starting solids, I feel like she doesn't need it any more. She doesn't wake up with acidy breath, and even her spit up doesn't seem painful anymore. I took her back down to her original does of 1 mL 2x a day, and she seems just find. No fussing, no arching back, nothing. How did you get off meds? Did you consult with pedi? At what age? What were the signs that lead you to stop? TIA for answering my 80 questions!
Re: Any refluxers no longer on meds?
We stopped around 4 months. We had ran out and he missed a couple doses but seemed to be doing fine without it, so we just stopped. I didn't ask the pedi but I knew that the Zantac was more for his comfort than anything, so I figured if he didn't seem uncomfortable that it was ok to stop. The pedi was just fine with it the next time we brought him in.
I've also noticed a dramatic decrease in spit up the last month or two, it's amazing!
We are in the process of weaning LO off. We're down to 1ml 2x a day right now. Which is waay less than he should be getting for his weight. We are slowly going to decrease his dosages...like 0.5ml 2x a day for a month...then drop a dose. And hopefully after that it won't be an issue.
I tried to go cold turkey on him, but it blew up in my face big time :-)

Jaiden was on the exact same doses of zantac. Pedi told us to cut it in half at 4 months for one week and then eliminate it completely. He spits up a little bit occasionally, but nothing crazy or dramatic like it used to be.
