TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

NTTCALR: Need prayers or advice...

I decided to do a little snooping today at my FIL's... DH said that he had thought he heard an odd sound in the bedroom when FIL was sleeping, so he described it to me! I knew what it was right away :(
Quick backstory: We are living with DH's parents since we just moved down her to FL. FIL is a FT smoker, in the house!! ...He eats too much fried food and pasta's, his Dr. told him to lay off them both! He has high BP and sits around the house doing nothing all day! The other day we noticed in the morning he breaths really heavy!

Sooo... FIL is not home and we went and snooped in his room... he is on Oxygen at night!! DH is so pissed right now because his Dad isnt taking care of himself! He is only 60 and he may not be here to see his Grandkids grow up! We can't talk to him, he will get really defensive. We don't know what to do now... I work in Cardiology so I know how bad it is and its breaking my heart!
Girls could you please keep his dad in your prayers and keep him safe. We need to now sit down and figure out what to do... Damnit I hate this!

TIA

  • I'm so sorry to hear that. I will be keeping him in my T&P. I hope everything gets worked out and that he can get healthier.

Hey there sweetie Thank you!! I'm so sorry for you loss... your in my thoughts love!!! (((((((HUGS)))))))))
  • Im certainly putting him in my T&P's.  It is never easy to find out someone you love is ill.  I really hope once you figure out how to approach him that he is willing to talk to you about it rather then getting on the defensive, especially since you will be able to help him not only emotionally but also with your knowledge of cardiology......GL
  • I don't have any advice, but I'm sending prayers!

  • Lots of prayers.

My only advice is try not to make yourself nuts trying to change someone who doesn't want to change. Dh has tried this with FIL and it doesn't work, he doesn't want to change his ways and doesn't care what we think.

    Good luck hon.

  • that's so scary, and so sad that he is hiding it from you all. I'm sorry.  He will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers, I hope that somehow you can get through to him so that he can get healthy.
