Hi All,

Has anyone taken any classes @ Mary Birch...its my first child and I was wondering if the birthing class was worth taking...thanks !!

Re: Birthing Class @ Mary Birch

  • My husband and I took the one day Saturday class due to scheduleing issues. It was VERY condensed. I'd at least say to take the 2 day weekend class.  We took it faily early too and didn't remember anything...luckly we had a Doula who helped us through the birth...I'd recommend that in a heart beat!

  • I took the basic baby class a few weeks before DD #1 was born - as a first time mommy, I would say it was useful - they covered things from bathing baby to changing, etc.  In terms of nursing and basica care, you can take a nursing/feeding  class at the actual hospital after you have the baby, before being discharged.  I believe it is once a day in the morning.  Very useful and there are usually only a small handful of mommies there, plus you will have your baby with you, so you can have some one on one help.  I love MB - I had both of my girls there and they have always been amazing.  Congrats on your pregnancy :)
  • we are currently in ours.  We are doing the 8 weeks?  I think that's how long it is. It is our first and even though I'm the oldest of 13 grandkids and have definitely been around babies, I've never given birth so the info is AMAZING.  They also give you a tour of the L&D if you are delivering there and walk you through everything they do, so when we do arrive in labor, we will know what we are supposed to do.  The instructor we have is great as well. She pretty much answers ANY questions you have.  Finally, my husband and I (although already VERY close) are really finding a bond between us like never before. Going though this journey together, and learning together, supporting each other. It's just really nice.
  • no actual experience taking the classes but i will around october :) i'm not due till January but since i am having my baby shower early november i figured i should know more about what to expect so that i can have a better idea of what items to add to my registry, plus i didnt want to deal with classes when i am HUGE or dealing with the holidays.
