North Dakota Babies

Full moon tomorrow night!

My family totally thinks I am going to go into labor this weekend because of the full moon tomorrow. I'm curious to see if any of us ladies do end up in labor over the weekend.

It might seem a little weird, but I saw my doctor the day after the last full moon and she said she was on call the night before and delivered at least a baby an hour from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Anyone else think the full moon has that kind of effect on labor?

Re: Full moon tomorrow night!

  • My cousin is a L&D nurse.  She says they see more women on full moon nights.  But she also sees more women who think they are in labor when they aren't on full moon nights.  I think that's hilarious.
  • I had a roommate a long time ago that was not allowed to go out on full moon nights - she always made out with random guys when it occured. I'll be interested to hear if the same is with babies.

  • I think it's coincidence, but if they made a study and turns out it does it wouldn't surprise me.

The moon (or gravitational force between moon and earth) has an effect on bodies of water (tides) and a significant portion of the human body is water, right? Plus your baby is inside of you floating in liquid...so who knows...it could have something to do with it.

  • I went into labor with Rowen on a full moon night.  (I didn't even realize it was until I got to L&D).  It was a really crazy night/day there too.  They normally only deliver around 5 babies a day and they had over 20 including 3 sets of twins.  I don't know if it was the full moon or what, but something weird was definetly going on!

  • At my small hospital (which has two delievery rooms), three babies were born today.  Soi who knows.

  • I was just thinking about this last night when I saw the moon.  Maybe it will bring on some babies!
  • We see more crazies in the ER on full moons, I have heard it it's true about the babies too.
  • That's crazy, I think there is a connection somehow. Maybe we'll have some babies on this board this weekend!
