XP: Breastfeeding
I think the motor in my pump is dying. Even on the highest setting I feel no pain and I'm getting crappy yields this week. This morning I couldn't even get a letdown from it.
I've replaced the membranes and checked all the fittings and it still isn't right. Any other tips? Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone dealt with Medela customer service? I can't remember if I sent in the product registration card for it. I am so bad about not sending those in.
Re: XP**Pump in Style Users**
I worried about that. But the suction on the pump is definitely off. It normally hurts when I go up too high and it's really odd not to get a let down.
I was going to suggest the tubing change as well. Also, I had a week where I got lazy about drinking lots of water and DD was being a fussy eater with a tooth and saw a pretty scary drop. As soon as I started back on the water, as well as adding some fenugreek, things were back to normal.
I haven't used the medela customer service, but have heard good things about them, even from a friend who is an LC! GL
Did you by chance buy the warranty? If so I would exchange it for another because if you have a problem this early on, you may have another problem later. I originally purchased the Medela Swing & bought the warranty from BRU, which was the smartest thing because it turned out to be a waste of time & production. I got my Pump in Style from my sister. I know its frowned upon to use a pump secondhand, but since it was my sister & she swore it never backed up, I took hers. She had it for like 7 years. I had replaced all the accessories & it worked fantastic for the 9 months I BF.
I dealt with CS once & they were really great. If you can't return it to where you go it from they can probably advise you what to do. Good luck.
My motor died after 7 months of heavy use. I called the Medela customer service line and they walked me through several different trouble shooting techniques. Once we deemed it was a lost cause, they asked me to fax over a copy of my receipt (I did not purchase a warranty). The rep said that all Medela units are guaranteed for one year from the purchase date. Once I faxed over the receipt, I received an email confirming the exchange. They FedExed me a completely new unit with a free return label for the old unit. I had it within 2 days.
I did purchase an Evenflo hand held electric pump to get me through for the 2 days and I really was pleased with it. I got it for $35 at Target and it is a lot slower than my PISA, but it gave me the same yield that I usually get.
Hope this helps!
