Parenting after 35

my wiggly sleeper!

When I glanced at the monitor this morning, Sydney wasn't there! *insert panic attack* I mean, she was there.... just not where I put her! She wiggled so much that she was at the opposite end, facing the opposite way out of the camera's view. I guess it's time to move it where we can see the whole crib!

Sleeping unswaddled has gone great the last three nights though. She starts out on her side and either stays that way, or moves onto her belly. She seems so comfortable. What a relief. I stressed about this for so long!

Re: my wiggly sleeper!

  • I remember the first time Aaron wiggled out of camera range!  He was still swaddled (under his arms) and I realized it was time to stop.

I'm glad she's sleeping well on her side or belly. Aaron has totally become a tummy sleeper and sleeps much better that way.

  • We don't have a camera monitor, but I remember the first time I went to get Laney in the morning and she was turned 180 from where I put her the night before.  I was confident that DH had moved her just to mess with me....now I get excited when I go in to check on her or wake her to see where she's moved to!

And - BTW - Sydney looks just like you! (from the pics I remember of you when you were pg).

  • We don't have the camera but we have the motion sensor. The sensor is like 9 inches big & we had it in the middle of the crib. If she wanders too far off, the alarm goes off. We now positioned it closer to the top since she likes to sleep with her head touching the bumper. But at least once a night the stupid thing goes off because she moves too far away. Most of the times she doesn't wake up, but we have to go in to move her back. So I never get a full night of uninterrupted sleep. I know the sids risk is no longer, but I still am paranoid about stopping using it. I'm telling DH a video monitor might be better at this stage.
