DS has had a cold for a week. It was clear and now is green (lovely). He hasn't had a fever but this morning he woke up and it was 99.4. He's acting fine, eating fine. We're supposed to go on a road trip to visit some friends about 6 hours away (that includes stopping). Friend knows he has a cold -- doesn't care (and she would tell me the truth). Would you still go? It's just DS and I going, and we're both so excited to go. I haven't seen this friend in ages, and I took work off and everything.
Would you still go? We're supposed to leave in a few hours.
Re: WWYD?
Have a fun trip.

Our doctor doesn't agree with the green = infection (I've asked before), which is confusing to me because our last pedi did.
Thanks ladies! I think we're going to go. DS just ate a giant breakfast and wants to know when we're leaving.
I have heard that before too. My boys have had green drainage before too and after a day it went away w/o any meds. I guess from that experience, I agree with that.
Green does not necessarily mean infection. DS gets green discharge with 100% of his runny noses (and, as a gross side note, so do I). 99.9% of the time he is fine in a few days with no meds at all. My Dr. and DS's pedi both have said that it isn't unusual and just happens for some people.
I would go - have fun!
my doc also doesn't agree with this. She said in kids it is most likely the end of the cold. I'd still go. Have fun
If he hasn't had a fever and now has one I'd be worried it is turning into a secondary infection (ears or sinuses). Those aren't really contagious but can get uncomfortable fast so keep an eye on him and keep him hydrated.
