We tried to give DD apricots the last 3 days, she hated them. Usually I go 4 days with each food, but she realy really hated them, so I'm gonna skip tomorrow. I'm assuming it's safe to start a new food tomorrow because I would have seen an allergic reaction by now right?

Re: How long Re solids:
I even tried mixing it with BM today. I will come back around to it in a week or so because I've heard the thing about multiple exposures.
Let me as you a question though Tonya, Kinda off topic, but I like a lot of your advice, so I'm wondering what you think about this:
At DD's 6 month apt, she was 14lbs. she dropped from 25th percentile to 9th percentile. the pedi isn't happy abou that and wants me to start feeding her cereal 3x's a day.
We purposly skipped cereal and went straight to veggies because I didn't want her having the processed stuff and felt that with the iron in it she'd just get super backed up (as she already has pooping issues).
Anyway, I don't wanna give her the cereal now, and I think my pedi is a wack job for this (normally I really love her, I just am bothered by this)
I thought about giving her EB's multi-grain cereal instead (pedi said that since she's over 6 months multi grain should be okay) But I'd rather not even deal with cereal, I'd lke to just give her things like toast and hummus and other foods that could pack on the lbs.
what do you think, what foods do you think would help?
Sorry, I know it's totally random that I'm asking you all this lol.

I personally think hummus would be fantastic- it's got heathy fats from the olive oil, fiber and protein from the chickpeas, and is far healthier than rice cereal! I'd make my own though, b/c I'm pretty sure the commercially purchased stuff would have way too much salt for LO. I'd also maybe try real oatmeal. If you've tried wheat already, bread would be fine. And why not give Cheerio's or puffs instead of baby cereal? Also, avocado would probably be a good fatty food to try. And potatoes- baked sweet potato fries or roasted white potatoes would be a good, carb rich option.
But I'm a little surprised at your pedi suggesting she should be getting so many calories from solids- most of their calories and nutrition, especially now when first starting solids, should still be coming from breastmilk or formula. I know DD hasn't decreased the # of feedings or her intake of BM yet- if anything, I swear she's increased! lol
Thank you for your input. I'll have to get a recipe for hummus. We do feed avacado, it's actually her favorite solid so far.
I think since I won't be doing apricots anymore this week I'm gonig to try to giver her some wheat toast tomorrow.
Pedi did also say to try to throw in an extra BF session if I could. It's just weird, I feel like I'm force feeding now instead of following her cues. But she did take an extra feeding today so that was nice.

This exactly. And we do oatmeal instead of rice cereal. You can also try cream of wheat, which has a lot of calcium and iron. DS hates "real" food and gags on anything not nicely pureed.
