Ahhh we have the same last name!! I wouldn't not use Finley. I even threw around the idea of the name Mary. My first name ends with a "ca" and my maiden name starts with a "ca" and my mom said other people would bring this up when her and my dad were discussing names. I didn't realize it til a few years ago! If you love the name I think it sounds fine.

I don't think that is so bad. Finley is a really cute name. I don't think the double -y is a big deal. If your last name ended in -ley though, I would say no. Unfortunately, my (married) last name does end in -ley and and my first name is Lesley. Its such a hot mess (too many L's, too many -lee sounds) that I am embarrassed to give my full name.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you feel that way. It's probably not as bad as it sounds to you.
Do you use your maiden name at all, like if it's with a random person?

I have the exact same problem with the 'ee' sound at the end of my last name (2 syllables too) and, personally, I stayed away from all first names ending with 'ee'. Huge pain, I know, cause that is a lot of names gone- but I don't like the sound of it.
I think it totally depends on the name -- and I liked Tenley for a girl until I realized I didn't like how Tenley Murphy sounded.
However, I think that Macy Murphy is adorable!!
Also watch out for first names that begin with 'M.' Hubs is like in LOVE with the name Liam (if it's a boy!) but I told him that "Liam Murphy" sounds like "Leah Murphy" when you say it out loud.

Aww, thanks for trying. Last name is Riley though, so it really is that bad. Its okay. My maiden name was hard to pronounce and easy to make fun of, so it was still a step in the right direction. BTW, I really do like Finley. Hope you decide to go with it!

I avoided it. Husband's last name is Yeakley (yay-klee, but everyone says yee-klee) and anything ending in a hard e sound was out.
Finley Murphy isn't bad.
This.
I'm a Murphy, too!!

Finley Murphy sounds fine. Cute, even!
I only dislike when the end of the first name "blends" with the first of the last name, like Liv Vargas or something.
