I was totally unaware that 6 month old babies can eat meats. I have just been feeding my DS rice cereal/oatmeal, fruits and veggies. My DS does not have teeth yet.
I do. Just the pureed baby food in a jar type though like turkey and rice or macaroni beef. I wouldn't know how to begin pureeing meat myself. The type in jars has veggies mixed in.
Side note: personally I think it all tastes awful, but I'm not a baby.
I actually asked about this at LOs 6 month appointment because both Gerber and Beechnut sell it for stage 1/2. He said that they can't digest meats until at least 8 months. He said that all the protein she needs she will get from her formula.

Food at the stage in the game isn't for nutrition anyways, it's for practice. This link has some good info about when to give meat, as does www.wholesomebabyfood.com
So I started feeding him what I eat. If I eat chicken I cut him off a little piece and occasionally chew it up with my front teeth for him. He has had no issues and eats everything I eat. I did this with my 11 year old too.
We started solids at 6 months and pedi recommended meat as a first food which is very common outside of the United States. I cook and puree myself (although he has also had some small pieces of meat off of our plates)

We tried the stage 1 turkey and DS didn't like it by itself, but would eat it when mixed with something else. He didn't seem interested at all in the chicken, so we've decided to hold off on meats for a while and try again later.

Very common outside of the US. It's now being recommended as a first food in Canada. If you don't want to puree, try grating it on a box grater. It crumbles it quite finely.

My son hates baby food. Solids were a war.
