IVF for 5,500? How do I find out about this RE's stats

https://www.hanivf.com/

Thats the link. Ok so I made an appointment at a different place that offers IVM  see here >  https://www.ivmandivf.com/  IVM is not as expensive because... bah it explains it better in the link. IVm seems to be a good fit for those with pcos. I have no clue if i have pcos. But I am going there to at least try. A friend of mine had a distant family member that went ther for some infertility isses and she now has a baby. So I called.

Ok back to the first link. Does it seem too good to be true? How did you chose your RE? I think that if I am not a good candidate for IVM, I am going to look into the the 5500 guy.

What say you? Would u give it a shot if you were OOP?

  • Well, first and foremost, you should probably figure out if you do have PCOS....

I don't have any advice on IVF/IVM but...you should have a clear diagnosis, tons of testing and a good understand of exactly what you are and what you aren't dealing with when going into any IF treatment.

  • I am going to speak with the RE next thursday about PCOS. What I do know is I was told more than twice my only chance at pregnancy would be IVF. IVM is good for those with pcos because they have many more immature egg. While speak to the nurse at the RE office she told me that IVM a good possibility for me because the procedure doesnt need my tubes. I just dont know about the pcos, I have my suspicions but never DX so I will know more and ask more next week.

I get that but your protocol will be different depending on your full diagnosis.

As far as if it is a reputable RE or not, you can look here

Totally agree. You should wait until your RE appointment (which it looks like you already scheduled). So that you know for sure what your diagnosis is. They will then have a better idea of what is going to work for you, what specific protocol will work best etc. Good luck! When is your RE appointment?

ETA: Sorry to be redundant Madelyn, I posted before I saw your reply about protocol.

I chose my RE based on patient recommendations and success rates for procedures. They have pretty high success rates compared to the other clinics in my area. I also went on the local bump baby board and asked around what RE they went to. After I did that I made an appointment to talk to him (I needed an appointment ASAP). He was kind and scheduled me right away. At the appointment we clicked and I immediately trusted him. I would shop around until you were comfortable.

As far as the price is concerned 5500 dollars isn't outrageously low or anything in my area. The price, I'm almost positive, doesn't include meds. At my office its 6000 dollars. Good luck finding the best doctor for you!

  • Thank you Madelyn. I feel so lost sometimes Ive know about my IF issues basically all my adult life but I've only been to one doctor who basically tells every time i show up... you need to figure out how to come up with 12k cause thats the only thing thats going to help you. They send me home with a folder I get sad and just try to convince my self that its ok if i dont have a child. But I do. I have to at least try once

  • I actually have a consult set up with HAN next month.  A friend recommended them to me after she met with them.  She had planned to cycle there, but got pregnant before she started.  I have been seeing another RE since last September and I felt it was time for a second opinion.  Let me know how your appt goes.  GL!

  • i believe this is the official site with a RE's stats etc:  https://www.sart.org/find_frm.html

     GL with everything ...

  • To my knowledge IVF is still considered to be in the experimental stages and there have not yet been a lot of successes from it...

  • No it is true - and it covers the IVF and any additional procedure that might be needed like Assited Hatching and ICSI - but it does not cover meds - which depending on your insurance and your protocol they can run you an additional couple thousand dollars.  I use to go to that office when I began treatments but decided to switch to Main Line Fertility - even though their IVF is double I trusted them more - and I am 100% OOP for IVF.  You can look up their success rates on SART - at www.sart.org   Good Luck!
