I've heard of this being used. I think it looks beautiful written and I don't mind the sound, but I wouldn't use it. Brianne and Brianna constantly get mispronounced as is, imagine how much more often Brienne would misspelled/mispronounced--it would be awful.
Bri - enne, def not Breeene, so THANK YOU for that insight. I am totally open to other spellings. I was saying Brianne in my head and was twisting it a bit and came to Brienne so I really have no idea how it would be spelled. I googled it and there were a few Briennes that came up...a battle in france and a photographer, both spelled as I had it...hmmm, perhaps I am inventing, and I don't wanna do that

Really Brianne/a mispronounced? I know a few and it has never been a problem. That is one of those names that, if it was mispronounced, I would consider the literacy level of the speaker.
I do see how this could happen w/ Brienne tho

On the contrary, Brianna is my given name. It is pronounced Brie-ANN-uh. However, due to regional accents and cultural accents (Spanish, in particular) it is often pronounced Brie-AH-nuh. I have hated the latter pronunciation my entire life. And, since I was given the name long before the name surged in popularity, I had the unfortunate luck of getting to spell and repeatedly pronounce it for people all the time. After years and years of correcting the pronunciation, I now go by my middle name exclusively. So, yes, regardless of literacy it is possible for this name to be pronounced incorrectly and the only solution is spelling integrity. IMO, parents naming their daughter Brie-ANN-uh, should spell it Brianna; parents naming their daughter Brie-AHN-uh should spell it Briana.
I think Brienne will get confused and mispronounced because, when you tell people your baby's name, they will immediately seek to recognize the name in their minds, changing it to Brianne. You will then have to correct them, and most likely spell it. Some people have this problem and manage to just brush it off, saying, "Call me Bri," or something to that effect, but even with the nickname I grew to hate having to pronounce my name for people.
If you don't think it will be a problem for you, use Brienne. I do think it is very, very pretty. One good thing I can say about my name--nearly every time I introduce myself to someone, they comment on how beautiful the name is. I'm sure with a variation like Brienne, you'd hear the same and your choice would constantly be complimented.
My friend's niece is named Brienne (after a relative who was named Brien). It took some time to get used to the pronunciation, but it doesn't phase me anymore.
