Babies: 6 - 9 Months

I can't believe I'm asking this question

Anyone have issues with, umm, hemorrhoids?  What's bad enough to warrant a doctor visit?

I can't believe I am dealing with this crap (pun intended) 7 months after delivery, but alas, here we are.  Any advice ladies?

Re: I can't believe I'm asking this question

  • I've been debating over the past few days whether or not to ask the SAME question.

It's kind of funny how something that was so openly discussed just a few boards ago is now incredibly TMI. But yeah, you're not alone. I've been trying to decide if I need to call my doc, too.

I've had them, but not because of being preggo, or anything like that. I wouldn't go unless it was so bad I couldn't stand it anymore. But that would mostly be because I would be embarASSed. HA! I kill myself.

  • I have an anal fissure (hello tmi) and it is a biotch.  I want to die every time I poo.  I have seen three docs and am on a special fiber thing and have numbing cream.  The numbing cream saves my life.  I hoping it heals up because the other option is surgery and I am not jumping at the chance to have someone operate on my a-hole.  Thankyouverymuch!

  • I have had some issues as well....but nothing that those fabulous pads (witch hazel, tucks or whatever) didnt help with. I think if they are super painful, or big, or bleed then you should have it checked out. Sorry your dealing with that, it sucks!

  • Had it all..it completely sucks but once you have them, you will always have them unless you get them surgically removed.:(
  • Ok, here comes the honesty...

I had them while pregnant with #2 and they got so bad I couldn't walk or sit without pain.  I had to lie down on my side (which is convenient when you work and have a 2.5 year old).

I went to the doctor when they (ok TMI coming) started bleeding and I couldn't take it anymore.  It was embarrassing but honestly, it happens and after having one baby, I am far less shy about anything.

I'm glad I went b/c I was given a topical prescription and after using it I rarely saw them again.

  • I am constantly in a war against hemmies.  Here is what works for me:

    - I use Prep H medicated wipes instead of toilet paper - expensive, but heavenly - they have a three pack at Sam's and Costco for much cheaper than other stores

    - weekly or twice weekly sitz baths

    - I also use Prep H cooling gel after every BM - love this stuff

    - Colace stool softeners if you are passing hard stools

    - Drink Metamucil (they have a sugar free kind) every single night religiously and it has helped

ETA:  There is also a suppository my doctor prescribed that works really well too although I don't use them often because they are steroidal.

Hope these suggestions help!! GL :)

Okay, if you guys can believe this craziness....my dad just had RUBBER BANDS put on his to make them shrivel up. Rubber bands on my a$$hole? Ugh. I'll try the Preparation H first. But yes, I'm having some major pain and bleeding there. I think I just broke one a while ago because I seriously had blood running down my legs (yes, TMI, I know). We're talking instant horrifying pain. Gosh. I knew that near 12 pound son of mine was going to catch up with me somewhere, LOL!

I have also heard the rubber band trick, but there is NO way I'm doing that.  I'm sorry you are in so much pain.  I know how bad it is.  I hope you find relief soon!!

Ok...asking for more tmi here - can you tell me what this is? I don't think I have a hemmie but it hurts so bad everytime I go. It feels like crapping glass. And sometimes there is blood. Is that what you have?

Yikes...  I had an anal fistula a few years ago.  Not sure if it's the same thing or if a fissure can lead to a fistula.  I had to have surgery, but now after having DS I'm having issues again.  This time just hemmies, but I'm scared of getting another fistula.  Worst pain imaginable.

  • Hyperemesis while pregnant with DD cause me to have very bad hemmies. I bled every.single.time I tried to poop. And I'm not talking a drop of blood that turned the toilet water pink. You couldn't see through the water it was so dark.

When I was able to start eating a little I drank metamucil every night before bed, took the max dose of colace and ate dried apricots. The worst of it had my stiff as a board lying on my side in bed and DH ran to the drugstore to get some anusol. Worked like a charm.
