Potty Training

they say he's ready, but what am i doing wrong?

son is 2 yrs old next month. He has been going pee & poop on the potty when we put him there for months, but does not tell us when he has to pee, but can tell us if he has to poop.  At school they put him on the potty every hour & he's got a dry diaper & will normally go & they said he's ready. So I put underwear on him & put him on the potty at least every hour, but we've already peed in about 7 pair of underwear.  He goes sometimes but not always, then if he didn't go, he'll pee in his pants 15 minutes later & doesn't care he's wet. What am I doing wrong?

  • Sorry but this doesn't sound to me at like he is ready.  It sounds like someone else is putting him on the potty and he's going but just because he is there and they are lucky not because he told someone, hey, I need to go potty.  Also, it is easier for kids to know when they have to poop vs pee.  I personally would leave him be in undies until he tells you he has to go.  What is the rush by the way, he is only 2, not even actually.  That is very young to be trained.
