Itzbeen or mobile app?

I registered for and got the Itzbeen but now I'm wondering if I should return it. My husband has an iPhone and I saw this great app (Baby Brain?) that does what the Itzbeen does but even more, like keep track of wet/dry and pee/poop diapers, how MUCH milk LO is getting, etc. The problem is, I have a Blackberry... does anyone know of similar apps available for BB? Should I just keep the Itzbeen?

Re: Itzbeen or mobile app?

  • Honestly? I don't get the need for an electronic app for this.

I kept a small notebook when DD was born and just wrote the stuff down.  I still have the book and it's nice to go back and look at it and see how much stuff changed over the course of the first few weeks.

I have a new notebook to take with me to the hospital for baby boy.

  • I havent had a chance to use mine yet but after playing around with the Itzbeen I think its going to come in really useful, especially when both parents are taking care of all these tasks.
  • I have the total baby app for the iphone and think it will be really useful but I think you will be fine using whatever is convenient. Using your husbands phone would not be convenient at all I wouldn't think so I would just go with what you have. As pp mentioned you might find you don't like going the electronic route and find a pen and paper much more useful.
  • I got the itzbeen on sale with a coupon for like $17.  I looked at the iPhone apps, but we don't have a home phone and usually leave our phones plugged in downstairs, so it was easier for me to get the itzbeen.  I have played around with it a little and think it will be handy and easy to use.  Besides, it is the type of thing you could always sell on ebay or to a resale shop when you are done with it.
  • There is an app for that? Awesome if it actually tracks it.
That is my beef with itzbeen you cannot go back & look at history
With DS I used a notebook & I took that thing everywhere
    I bought a BF notebook from rosiebear.com (I think)
I will be using that but looking into the app for when I am ut

  • Thanks ladies, I definitely don't want to rely on DH's phone as he won't be home all the time. I think I will just keep it and see how it goes. I imagine in a year or so they'll have a version that lets you see the history or something like that... until then, might just need to keep a notepad handy.

  • My new BlackBerry app, BurpBerry, does all the things you've just asked for. It will track your baby's sleep, nursings/feedings, diapers, temperature readings and medications given. Plus, it will save a history of all those events. You can even search the history by type of event or date (which you can't do with a pad of paper). And you can use all these features for more than one baby at a time.

We also have a contraction timer (BirthBerry) and a kick counter (KickBerry).

Hope that helps and I'd love to hear any feedback/suggestions you might have.

    Best wishes,
