My DD has been eating an assortment of veggies and fruits for a while now. I have some cantaloupe in the fridge. If I puree it, can I feed it to her? I can't remember what my pedi said about melons.
I've been giving cantaloupe (it's his favorite food so far!!) in tiny pieces or in a mesh feeder. I haven't tried to puree it yet, but if it works out- why not?
I don't see why not. I gave my daughter some in her mesh feeder and she loved it. It definitely wasn't one of the things our doctor said we should avoid.
Our Ped is very relaxed on solids. She told us the only things we should really stay away from was shellfish and honey. Everything else she told us to use our judgement on size and spices, but that we should feed her what we eat if she look interested. That being said, we do baby led weaning and give her slices of cantelope to nom on. She loves it and really can't bite of more than she can chew since she really doesn't have teeth.
I will add that neither my husband nor I have any known food allergies, and that is why she is so laxed. I am sure the cantaloupe feels great on her gums since she is cutting 2 teeth.
DS had some watermelon and cantaloupe last night. We do BLW so he was given large chunks to handle. He even started to chew on his watermelon so I know he must have loved it.
ETA: I think the reason why they caution against tropical fruits and melon is because of the acidity and that it might cause irritation on their bums. I just keep a close eye on DS and he is totally fine.

But do be careful if there are any teeth, lol. I let Linc nom on a slice I was eating one day and he took out a HUGE chunk with his bottom two teeth.
Even if they don't have teeth, they can totally bite things as if they did have teeth. My 2nd son was eating the same full meals we were with no teeth.
Re: Can my DD have cantaloupe?
I would think so.
