toddler moms... when did you stop?

when did you stop giving whole milk and switch to 2%?

when did you stop using a high chair and switch to a booster seat?

Re: toddler moms... when did you stop?

  • We stopped with whole milk on a regular basis about a month ago. He eats a pretty balanced diet and is big for his age. I don't think he needs the additional fat. My pedi recommends 2 yrs though.

  • I believe the general recommendation is whole from 12 months to 24 months, since they need the extra fat for brain development.  After that, it is ok to switch to whatever your family drinks, whether it is 2%, skim, or in between.
  • 2 on the whole milk and we moved G into a booster about 6 weeks ago.  He wanted out of the highchair so we moved him.

  • Grant chose to no longer want to sit in highchair right at 2, I wish he still would because he is SO messy.

We haven't taken him off of whole milk, he is skinny and not a good eater and our Dr. said it was fine to leave him on longer. Generally @ 2 is recommended though.

  • We switched to 2% and sometimes 1% at the age of 2.  And since we have the space saver, she's pretty much still in it.  Sometimes she wants the tray and sometimes she want to use the table to eat.

  • We haven't switched (21 months) and haven't really thought about when we will.

She's been in a booster seat for two or three months now.  She loves being in her booster seat.

  • We swtiched milk at 2 years...she drinks fat free now because that's what I drink and her Dr. said it was good.

DD has always been in a booster (ok, since 6 months)

  • oh - forgot to answer booster part - I think he was around 18 months when he started mainly using the booster.  I think he was around 3 when we stopped using the booster.

Luca still drinks whole milk at almost 2.5 I'm in no hurry to change that. He refused to use the high chair at about 2. Lila is 14 months (almost) and sits at a little table with Luca. She won't sit in a high chair because big brother doesn't. However, she does use one when we go out to eat. He sits on his knees in a regular chair. He just won't use one... He also demands adult sized cutlery...
  • Truitt still gets whole milk. He is in the 20% for weight and his pedi thinks it's fine for h im. He doesn't drink more than 3-4 glasses a week, so we pack it with a lot of punch!

We have a Svan so we still use it. The front 'highchair' parts are off so really, it's just a tall chair. Occasionally when we are at a restaurant we will still use one but that is probably one in 20, depending on the atmosphere and the table heights...
